Welcome to KatByrd
KatByrd helps you discover public art, history and hidden gems around you. By creating an account or continuing as a guest you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
Who can use KatByrd
Anyone can use KatByrd as a guest. Creating an account requires that you are at least 13 years old. If you are under 13, you may use KatByrd only as a guest, with a parent or guardian's permission, and we collect less information about you (see the Privacy Policy).
Stay safe and be respectful
Hunts happen in the real world. Pay attention to your surroundings, obey traffic and property rules, never trespass, and do not put yourself or others at risk to find an artwork. Respect artworks, private property and other people. You are responsible for your own safety.
Photos and content you add
Public art on KatByrd is added by contributors that KatByrd has given permission to and, over time, by the community with KatByrd's review. Once a public artwork is listed, it belongs to the public listing: an artist can claim it and add their story and background, but cannot remove the artwork from a hunt. Artists may remove only the photos they themselves added to their own profile or artwork background. What you add must be a public, permanently installed artwork (such as a mural, sculpture or marker) that you photographed from a public place, and you must own the photo or have permission to share it. Do not add advertisements or commercial signage, road signs, graffiti or tagging that was not commissioned or permitted by the property owner, people's faces without permission, private information, or anything unlawful, hateful or inappropriate. You keep ownership of your own photos and give KatByrd a non-exclusive, worldwide license to store, display and share them inside KatByrd and in promotion of KatByrd. We may remove content at our discretion.
Artist accounts and claims
Artists may claim artworks they created or have a real connection to. Claims are reviewed by KatByrd and can be approved or denied. Submitting a false claim, or a claim for work that is not yours, may lead to removal of your account. Approved artists can add and edit information about their own artworks and profile, and can remove photos they added. They cannot remove the artwork from KatByrd or change its listed location. Their artist name and profile are shown publicly on those artworks.
Leaderboards and fair play
Your username and score appear on public leaderboards. Do not use offensive names or impersonate others. Do not cheat, fake your location or exploit the app. We may reset scores or remove accounts that do.
Our service
KatByrd is provided "as is" and "as available". We work hard to keep it accurate and running, but we do not guarantee that the app will be uninterrupted, that locations are exact, or that artworks are still present. To the fullest extent the law allows, KatByrd is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for injuries or losses that happen while you are out exploring.
Ending your use
You can delete your account at any time in the app (Profile). We may suspend or end access if these Terms are broken. Sections that by their nature should continue (such as content licenses and liability limits) continue after that.
Changes
We may update these Terms. If we make a significant change we will let you know in the app. Continuing to use KatByrd after a change means you accept it.
